Testimonials:
"Alex is a serious professional. His clientele are committed because they get results. As an added bonus, sessions with Alex are enlightening, enlivening, and inspiring. My wife tells her friends that she now has a seriously hunky husband thanks to my rigorous, professional training sessions. (Yowza!) But Alex is different. He’s very knowledgeable and skilled at what he does, as one would expect a trainer to be, but it’s much more than that – he is also patient, empathetic, encouraging, very respectful, and he was able to help me work around my injuries. He takes a bigger picture – that this is a life-long endeavor – and while I must say I was a bit disappointed to hear him tell me, our first session, how long it would take me to lose the weight I wanted to lose, and I admit to being a bit frustrated during the first 3- 4 months with the lack of actual weight loss, it was, as he told me it would be, about gaining muscle, which weighs more (and burns more calories). And, I felt so much better, almost from the first week! Plus, my shape did begin to visibly change within a month. Now, ten months later, I’ve lost about half of the weight I think I need to lose – but I am down almost three sizes from what I was! BUT – most amazing of all - that isn’t even the best part! I cannot believe how this whole thing has actually changed my life. Yes, I have more energy, but not just physical – I have more mental energy, I’m emotionally calmer and more focused; less susceptible to stress, and I bounce back much more quickly from things like business travel or working long hours under pressure. I carry myself with much more confidence – in part because I know I look better with the weight loss, but mostly because I just feel so much better, and because Alex has helped me build up the muscles that make standing straighter not only possible but natural. So, the bottom line is this – choose Alex for your trainer, do what he says, and you’ll be amazed, as I am, at the results!" - Carol "After a long and difficult day at work, my energy level is "nice and low" when I start my workout with Alex. Yet, the most amazing thing happens...I leave the gym with a lot more energy then when I started, and feel better both physically and mentally. Alex has the gift of understanding how I'm feeling in the moment, and has the ability to adjust our workouts to fit my energy level. As our workouts progress, he slowly increases the intensity level until I am energized and want to keep going, compared to not even wanting to start when I first walk into the gym. Training with Alex has motivated me to exercise on my "off" days, and I'm slowly making exercise and nutrition a good habit in my life. As an aside, I like the way my shoulders look and I can tell how much stronger I've become. Alex is the type of trainer that you keep; he is understanding and caring and is concerned about my well being (a rare combination of qualities these days!)" - Vanessa

“Having recently moved, I was looking for a new trainer and found Alex. I’ve now been working out with him for over a year, and I can say he is absolutely amazing . He is very knowledgeable and helps you reach your goals through great workouts (which he regularly changes to keep them both effective and interesting) and nutrition advice. Session after session, you get stronger and feel energized. Personally, he has also helped me deal with injuries and improve my running. On top of that, Alex genuinely cares about his clients in a way that is very hard to find nowadays. He is positive, considerate, organized, and extremely professional. No matter what, he is always 100% focused on giving you the best possible workout. I would sincerely recommend him to anyone who wants a serious and competent trainer.” - Claudie
"I've trained with good trainers in the past, but I must say that in the last three years training with Alex, I've never been stronger. After being badly injured in a car accident two years ago, Alex has been working with me to slowly regain my strength. Alex takes his time with me and is patient and is very understanding of my situation. He encourages me to push myself within my limits, motivates me to not give up and always listens when I need to slow down or take a break. I like the results (I've lost weight and gained strength - a beautiful combination). If you're looking for a great trainer to help motivate you and exceed your goals, then Alex is the trainer for you." - Emily
"In 2008 after a weekend of gardening followed by days of recovery, it occurred to me that I should do a physical risk analysis on my current fitness and the impact on my future. At the time, my motto was: “rarely exercise and run only if there is an emergency.” The numbers didn’t look good for me enjoying physical fitness as I aged. My next dilemma was that I had a mental allergic reaction to preppie military trainers - you know the type - the only thing they know about people over 40 is what they read about in class, but they all got an “A” in bossing the client around and making them feel bad for not being able to do the last 30 sit-ups. Just as I was about to begin my search for the trainer that had more certifications than my doctor, excellent understand of physical fitness for all ages, good people skills, didn’t need to boss me around, had my best interest at heart, I ran into a coworker and she looked great. When I commented on how wonderful she looked she said “Alex”. I began working with Alex in less than a month and it’s the best self investment I have made in my life-to date. I’m still a little lazy and I don’t watch my nutrition as much as Alex would like, but I am stronger, I look better in my clothes and I just have a better sense of wellbeing."
- Carol

I have also sent my teenagers to Alex. My son went off to college a new man - working out at the gym on campus and watching what he eats: all of this because Alex took the time to care about him and to make a genuine connection. Alex has coached my teenage daughter through sports injuries and preventative training. Don't waste your time and money on anyone less." - Jeff

If you are serious about wanting to make a positive change in your life, you can’t do better than to engage Alex’s services as Personal Trainer. I made the decision almost a year ago; I wanted badly to lose the weight (about 40 pounds) that I’ve tried so hard to lose for so many years, and everything that had worked before wasn’t working any more. I more or less had the diet down – I ate what I thought was a very healthy diet – organic, lean protein, whole grains, vegetables and fruits. But my weight and size, though better than I’d been years before, was still not where I needed – for my health – to be; not only that, but at age 49, both were starting to creep up, no matter what I did. I’d tried exercise, too – several times - without much success. I was beyond frustrated; I was kind of desperate. So, for me, engaging a personal trainer was an act of desperation. I hated the gym, I’d never enjoyed exercise for its own sake and hadn’t benefited (in ways I could gauge) from it health-wise before; I’d never experienced feeling better because of it. Also, I’d had an injury to my foot and some back problems – I wasn’t sure if this could work for me. There were the usual time and money excuses too, and finally, I’d always felt kind of looked down on by athletic types. I wasn’t eager to experience that feeling – let alone to pay for it.
"
Recently, someone commented that I go to the gym a lot. It really shocked me to hear that because I’ve never been an athletic person, a person who enjoys exercise, or a person who makes thoughtful decisions about what they eat. Working with Alex has changed all that. Sure, he’s helped me to become much stronger physically, but he’s also changed my perspective into something that is much more positive and healthy. He's given me a new vision of what I am capable of accomplishing! Alex is the most relentlessly positive person that I know, and I always feel better after our work outs - always!"

“Over a vast number of years I’ve worked with different fitness trainers in disciplines such as Pilates, aerobic activity and basic strength training. I’ve learned that what I respond best to, and thus stay committed to, is a focus on overall mobility, balance and core strength…the aspects of function needed for day to day life. That’s what I adore about Alex! Alex keeps my workouts fluid, diverse and challenging, all the while responding to my specific needs. There is no prescribed formula that must be followed to achieve progress. He’s attentive to my daily needs and energy level. He’s extremely motivational and encouraging. I am continually impressed with the diversity of his expertise and therefore our (my) exercises. I love the visual results of my workouts, and most importantly, I love the mental health that’s encouraged by and complementary to physical well being. I would, and do, recommend Alex to anyone seeking a total body/mind fitness trainer.” -Roberta
"I’ve been working with Alex for more than five years, and he is an excellent, motivating trainer with a specialized knowledge of diet and health. He creatively varies my workout routine with circuits focused on strength training (power lifting, TRX system), cardio (boxing), and balance (yoga, bosu exercises). I feel physically and mentally stronger at the end of each workout. With his carefully crafted "homework" assignments, I’ve become committed to making exercise and nutrition a regular part of my week. I would strongly and enthusiastically recommend him to anyone interested in personal training." - Valerie
"Alex is an excellent personal trainer. He is conscientious, caring and knowledgeable about helping his students train. I started training with Alex a few months before my wedding. I enjoy lots of different sports and exercise, but I am not as good about pushing myself and focusing on the right exercise that will get me into good shape. Alex listened to my goals and told me what his plan was for me. I felt so confident and in such great shape by the time of my wedding! What I didn't expect was that once I started training with Alex I realized what great shape I could be in if I continued training with him. I have continued training with Alex even now that the wedding is over, because he continues to challenge me and change my workout routine so I have fun at every training session. He pushes me, but he's so good at it that you don't even know you're working hard. He also always asks me how I'm doing and what my energy level is so he doesn't injure me. Alex is easy going and flexible and really makes me feel like he cares about me. Alex balances a total body workout into a short period of time and I walk out of the gym in a better mood every time. I highly recommend Alex to anyone that wants to improve their physical fitness, take their workouts to the next level or just enjoy working out at the gym. I have learned so much from Alex about the importance of strength training, and now I love doing strength training and realize it's such an important part of my workout routine." - Rebecca
"Alex, is not the first trainer I worked with.. but he sure is the BEST. A knee injury prevented me from one of my favorite sports: jogging. Although I tried to stay with my gym routine I was gaining weight and getting depressed. I was so used to always going out for a run to feel my best and keep my weight in check. A few times, while I was working out at my financial district gym, I had the chance to observe Alex with his students, and his training style. It looked like people were having fun while they were working out..and Alex seemed really into it, helping them get in just one more rep. I decided to give him a try. I wasn't disappointed! Alex worked around my injury, he taught me new ways to reach my goals and, with his guidance, I rediscovered the fun in weight training all over again. Aside from the time I spend with my husband and family, my time with Alex is a lot of fun combined with a lot of hard work. After six months.... I don't even remember why I used to run, and I feel and look my best. I highly recommend Alex, as he is knowledgeable, fun, patient, very sincere and really wants his students to succeed in reaching their goals. I would encourage anyone who is seeking a healthy lifestyle to work with Alex..." - Carla
"While hopelessly seeking my path to fitness enlightenment over the years, a friend introduced me to Alex at Olympus Fitness about a year and ½ ago. Since then I’ve continued to use his fitness program, and I have to say I’ve been very pleased! My understanding of his approach to successfully attaining a fitness goal is one that can sustain for the long term, by making simple but gradual lifestyle changes that are manageable and fun. In the past, personal trainers and gym classes of sorts have helped me shed some pounds but because the intended fitness goal was meant to be completed in a short span of time, the end result also became short-term and I ended up back to square one. Sound like you? Alex shows a professionalism of service, while being attentive to my fitness needs and well-being. Keeping me in check with suggesting wiser food choices, and challenging me with a unique yet effective group of exercises that engage almost all muscle groups into each set. In addition, the overall positive "vibe" that he exudes always makes me look forward to our next workout session. Alex’s fitness program at Olympus Fitness is one that takes major effort and patience for a non-disciplinarian like me to commit to on my own, but here’s why I‘m sticking to it: my recent health exam report showed a reasonable amount of weight loss during a 9-month period and slightly lowered cholesterol levels. This excited my MD so much that she wanted me to pass on the kudos to whatever or whoever it was that helped… so Alex this one‘s for you!" - Ellen
"So, you ask me, what's so special about Alex? Let me tell you, I came to Alex early in 2005 after suffering a broken left foot. My physical fitness was at its lowest. I needed to work with someone who understood not only a healthy person's physical fitness needs, but someone who needed rehab. Alex's plan got me back on "my feet" and I began to enjoy the idea of being fit again. We've continued on and off until for the next year or so. In December 2006, I finally decided to return to some regular exercise and began looking into various running clubs. In January 2007, I woke up and thought, "gee, I've never run a marathon." I signed up with the San Francisco Road Runners Club "Running 101" and let Alex know my plans. He changed our workout to emphasize and assist my new hobby. Core, core, core is one of many mantras for runners. The result? Successful completion of 2 12k, a 5k relay and, most importantly, my first half marathon! All within the first 7 months of this year! Today, thanks to Alex's continued professional training, I completed another 5k and ran across home plate of the San Francisco Giants. I came to him a few days ago with an IT band problem. We worked together so as not to irritate it and still getting in some good strength training. (core, core, core) plus he showed me some great therapeutic stretching exercises that I could do at home. Again, you ask, what's so special about him? Alex is knowledgeable, professional, supportive (also meaning non-judgmental) and truly cares about each and every person. Thank you Alex!!! " - Bailey
"Having been a member of the military for over 18 years, I take my physical fitness seriously. Having said that, I can honestly say that deciding to train with Alex has been the best decision that I have every made for my health. After working with Alex for the last 12 months, and at age 42, I am stronger, faster, more flexible and healthier than I have ever been in my life. Through our weekly workouts, Alex offers expert advice on strength, conditioning and nutrition that is geared to my particular fitness goals and needs. In short, Alex has helped me to achieve the fitness and health goals that I have set for myself. I would recommend Alex as a personal trainer to anyone who wishes to do the same."
- Tarq
"My health has absolutely improved since I started training with Alex. I had been trying to work out on my own in the past, but my results with Alex far exceeded what I was able to accomplish on my own. Plus, I have learned much more form Alex than in all my weight training books. He says he know over 1000 different exercises and I believe him -- he always keeps me interested by having me try a variety of exercises. He is always very focused on me during our sessions. No matter how tired I feel before going in for a session, I always feel energized and great afterwards. In addition to getting stronger, I've had some unexpected results such as having significantly better balance. Thank you, Alex!" - Linda
"Six years ago when I was 78 I tripped and fell and broke my right shoulder. Prior to my accident I had been strength training with Alex for about a year. After the surgery, the doctor commented on the muscle development in my right shoulder and said that had I not been as strong, the damage to my shoulder could have been more severe. Alex and I are now focusing on strengthening the shoulder muscles and working on my balance. There is a noticeable improvement in my strength and range of motion and I am more confident doing my daily chores. As Alex keeps telling me..." if I exercise regularly and eat well, I'll live to be the age of Moses (120)"...I'm beginning to believe him!" - Jacob
" In early 2006 I looked in the mirror & decided I wasn’t happy with the way gravity had started taking over. I contacted Alex & I’m happy to say I’ve been working out with him ever since then. I honestly can’t say enough good things about him: he’s professional, organized & flexible! As an additional testament to his fine instruction, I’m delighted to report I “wowed” everyone at my 2009 school reunion & I’m looking forward to doing the same again in 2011. Thanks, Alex!" - Wendy
"Working with Alex has truly been a great experience, one that has really changed my life for the better. When I came to work with Alex, I had a lot of the usual goals that people have - lose some weight, get more active, and get on the "right track". I wasn't particularly unhealthy but definitely needed to shed a few pounds and get more exercise. What I have found, however, through working with Alex, is a new more well-balanced lifestyle altogether, one in which the focus is not just on shedding a few pounds but instead keeping balance both mentally and physically. Alex pays attention to so much more than most traditional trainers (and believe me I have experience with them). He pays attention to strength training and cardio but through so much more than just pounding out weights and running on a treadmill. His use of balance and core training in concert with strength training has been fantastic and has helped me improve in so many ways. He even taught me a Yoga/Weight combination workout that is one of the best I have ever done. To think that you could get a full cardio workout while at the same lifting weights in some pretty intense yoga positions was just awesome. What an incredible workout. Alex has also changed my nutrition and eating habits in a way I never could have achieved on my own. I never realized how just a few minor changes could add to weight loss and improve health. And his approach was tailored just for me...start by just monitoring how much fat you eat, look at the balance between proteins, carbs, and fat, and try to adjust based on what feels right and what gives results. Just a great, easy-going approach that actually made me change my habits. The bottom line is that Alex just cares about each of his students so much which is refreshing. So not only do you get a unique workout plan that focuses on mental and physical balance as well as strength training but you also get someone who cares about your well-being enough to try and help you change other habits such as nutrition in a non-evasive yet supportive way. It's a unique approach and one that works. I would not be as healthy or balanced today if it weren't for Alex. I would recommend him without reservation to anyone." - Doug
"Alex is a great trainer and role model for living a healthy life. His workout sessions are energetic and very challenging but tailored uniquely for me. He also focuses on our nutrition and always gives us information and articles on eating a balanced diet. Alex is a very caring and sensitive person; he is in tune with his student's individual needs and goals. I am much stronger and leaner since working out with Alex the last 2 years. I also learned to eat healthier and read food labels because of Alex. My friends complement my toned body. Thanks Alex." - Macy

"I hired Alex to assist me in helping me develop a training program, after many years of inactivity. The results have been outstanding. Since working out with Alex, I have been able to maintain a routine of exercise (3X per week) and my health, energy level, endurance and general well being has improved drastically. Since then, my wife and sometimes my children work out with Alex and we have created an effective focus on exercise and nutrition as part of our every day life. I recommend Alex without any hesitation." - Brian
"To sum up my feelings about Alex in a word, I would say “trustworthy”! How does this relate to him as a personal trainer you might ask? I’ll name a few reasons. First, he delivers what he promises, second he is a reliable money manager, and third he is results oriented. If you’re like me, you thoroughly research all products before you buy them. So as part of my research in deciding whether or not to train with Alex, I read all components of his website: testimonials, workout video, photo gallery, power of exercise, reasons to train, studios, biography, and contact. Then I made the decision to try one session with him. Based on that initial workout session, I knew that Alex would deliver what he promised, a motivational, inspired, safe and energetic workout. He continues to provide this caliber of workout with each training session. Delivers what was promised - Trustworthy #1
Next, to finance; I like my money. Alex is always professional when it comes to the financial aspects of his business. I’ve never once had any complications when it comes to my financial relationship with him. He doesn’t play when it comes to money. With that said, I happily pay him for his services on time because he delivers what he promises. With me, he’s financially savvy. Manages money reliably – Trustworthy #2
On to results; I lost twenty pounds within the first few months of training with Alex and gained a more visibly pleasurable body, more energy (stronger), and a more overall calm viewpoint of life in general. Moreover, I obtained all of this without getting injured. In other words, I look better, feel better, and think better. Alex delivers measurable results. Results oriented – Trustworthy #3.
These are just a few reasons why I train with Alex. There are many more; nutritional advice, variety of exercise, flexibility, etc….So I encourage you to take some time and read his website completely, and then train with him for a few sessions. I’m sure you’ll find him trustworthy and want him as your personal trainer too!
Finally, if you read his bio, you know that Alex isn’t just fit, he’s got years of experience and credentials so you’re also getting brawn with brains." - Angela
"I began training with Alex several months before I got pregnant. We then continued to meet twice a week throughout my pregnancy - up until about a week before I gave birth. Working out with Alex throughout my pregnancy had numerous advantages. Not only did it help to keep my weight gain in a healthy range, but it also helped me cope with the nausea and exhaustion I experienced. Throughout each trimester Alex modified my work-out to adjust to my changing body and needs. He ensured that I never got bored, while always strengthening my arms, back, and legs - muscles that would prove incredibly necessary during my labor. While Alex's background in prenatal training gave me tremendous confidence, it was really his enthusiasm about the pregnancy and his consistent efforts to monitor my symptoms and development that made me feel so positive about the experience. I firmly believe that it is my training with Alex throughout my pregnancy that gave me the strength and endurance to power through my labor. I was up and walking the day after giving birth, and many of the nurses at the hospital commented that I'd bounced back so quickly for a first-timer. While recovery after any delivery is a process, I look forward to resuming my work-outs with Alex post-partum and getting back into my pre-pregnancy shape. " - Anne
" I have been training with Alex for about three years. I call him the "Zen trainer". Not only does he make me work my muscles and bones to the utmost , more then I would ever dare to do myself, but he provides a safe haven for my mind and emotions to expand. He is a great counselor! I feel like I get training and therapy rolled into one. Leaving each training session with him, I am renewed and reinvigorated. " - Anne
"A couple years ago, my wife and I were dealing with running injuries and feeling the doldrums of a long and lethargic winter. Alex got us into a range of fun and challenging exercises that developed our core strength, reduced our running injuries, and increased our overall fitness. I finally started developing some upper body strength and started feeling good and fit consistently. Most important, though, is that Alex completely tailors our workouts to our ability, where we’re at in our training, and even our day-to-day level of fatigue, stress, etc. He’s totally tuned in to his students’ needs and state of mind, and genuinely wants to make sure that every workout is “just right” for that moment. His attitude is always positive, always calm, always encouraging you to reach your potential, whatever it is. He will push you pretty hard – but never past where you can go. He’s been a great trainer, motivator, and friend." - David and Patricia
For me, one of the best reasons to train with Alex is that he motivates me to come to the gym. Even on days that I don’t have the energy or the desire to workout, I know that Alex is waiting for me and that I need to show up. Once I do, we always have a great workout. I feel better and have more energy after our workouts, and I am encouraged to go back to the gym the next day to workout again. I am amazed at how much we can get done in a short period of time. Before I started training with Alex, I thought that a workout had to be a solid hour of heart pounding, sweat dripping exercise. Alex has shown me that any exercise, no matter the duration, is always better then nothing. Now that I train regularly, I feel better, have more energy, have lost weight and inches and am no longer looking for excuses to miss my workout. I look forward to them, because I know I will feel better when I get done." -Ingrid
"I am an avid skier and have been skiing most of my life. Since I started training with Alex about three years ago, I have noticed that my skiing has greatly improved. I have better balance, more stamina and more strength to stay out on the slopes for longer periods of time. When I first started training, I asked Alex to put together a program that would help me ski better. He has certainly exceeded my expectations. It never really occurred to me that strength training could improve other areas of my life, but I have witnessed first hand that it can." - Peter
"I started seeing Alex over 3 years ago after a series of falls for which there was no medical cause other than clumsiness. He designed an individual program for me specifically to improve my balance. Alex has never made me feel awkward or that I couldn't do something. His kindness and patience has helped me to increase my confidence and willingness to try new experiences. I have never loved exercise and find myself looking forward to our sessions. I can't say enough about Alex as trainer and as a wonderful person." - Michelle

“After working with Alexander I feel stronger and better than ever before. I have Multiple Sclerosis and my doctor suggested I try strength training. It has been an amazing experience. Alexander is thoughtful; he teaches technique, movement, and proper form, and is especially good at varying workouts. I have never felt bored or unchallenged. Alexander is interactive! He does not just stand around and count repetitions. You feel as though he is training with you. For anyone looking for a great teacher and trainer who is up-to-date with health, exercise technology, and nutrition--I highly recommend Alexander.” - Steve

“I feel truly blessed to have Alexander as my trainer. I hired him to help me with overall body tone and to lose weight but, in the seven months that he has been my trainer, he has far exceeded these expectations. I look so much better! I feel more confident and I have changed my eating habits for the better. Alexander is never distracted or detached from our workouts. He is always right there, in the moment, working with me every step of the way--and is always sensitive to how I am doing with a specific exercise or weight. Alexander has helped me acquire a lifetime dedication to fitness…he has completely changed my life.” - Natalie

"I've been working with Alex for a couple of years now and can't get enough. He challenges me in different ways and I'm never bored with my workouts. He listens to my needs and focuses on taking me to the next level each time we work together. Our time is our time - he's not distracted by other things -- all attention is on me and my progress. I highly recommend Alex and welcome you to give him a try..." - Renata

"Here are a few of the reasons why I heartily recommend Alex:
• He brings a lot of variety to the workout. He changes your workout every four or five sessions. This keeps things fresh, but also increases the benefits. (He’ll probably explain the concepts of strength, power and balance and how he wants to develop all three.). In a given workout, you’ll do some combination of free weights, weight machines, exercise bands, medicine ball, yoga, Pilates, boxing, etc. He always helps you stretch at the end.
• He keeps the pace quick so you’re getting a cardio workout at the same time as whatever else you’re doing. Because of Alex, I wear a heart rate monitor while I workout. This helps me to keep my heart rate in my target range.
• He goes the extra mile. If I have a schedule conflict, he’ll do everything he can to find a time to reschedule. He calls me on the weekend to see how I’m feeling after our workout and to see if I’ve had a chance to workout on my own.
• He’s convenient. He works with three different studios.
• He's very motivational. He seems to know when you need an extra push and he’s quick to praise when you’ve done something well.
• He works with all levels of fitness and has appropriate workouts for all. You might see some of this in the video on his website.
• He’s the fourth trainer I’ve worked with, so I feel like I have a good frame of reference. He’s certainly the best of the four (and I’d rate two of the other three as very good or better.)
• He’s one of the nicest guys you’ll want to meet. I also give him very high marks for integrity. I started working with him at a club in the SF Financial District before he went out on his own. When he left, he told me to use the five sessions I had left with another trainer at the club. He also said "You paid to work with me, so you also get an additional five sessions with me. You paid to work with me and I want you to get what you paid for."
If you give Alex a try, I promise you won't be disappointed." - Duane
